We financially support the missions of the Presbyterian Church USA in our nation and world.
In February 2025, we partnered with Southern Heights Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, NE to serve on a mission trip to El Batey, Dominican Republic. Together, we worked hand-in-hand with local community leaders to share Christ’s love in tangible ways—pouring concrete floors for families in need, planting a community garden, supporting a sewing ministry to empower local men and women, and leading a vibrant Vacation Bible School to share the Gospel with children.
This mission was a deeply moving and transformative experience, as we witnessed God’s presence in the resilience, faith, and joy of the community. Through our partnership with Foundation For Peace and our long-term missionary Kristin Hamner, who has faithfully served in the Dominican Republic for nearly 20 years, we were able to extend our support through financial gifts for ongoing community projects.
Serving alongside our Dominican brothers and sisters reminded us of the power of Christian fellowship and the call to be the hands and feet of Jesus. As we left El Batey, our hearts were full—not only from the work accomplished but from the relationships built and the faith deepened.
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18
For over 10 years, our congregation has been supporting missionary Kristin Hamner in the Dominican Republic. This includes sending adults on short-term mission trips to assist in building projects, basic medical care, clean water systems and meeting other needs.
Kristin Hamner is a daughter of the congregation, who is a Presbyterian Minister Mission Worker in the Dominican Republic. The church helps to support her work with the Foundation for Peace. Kristin is involved in a wide variety of ministry work in the Dominican Republic. Through the Foundation for Peace she helps to organize the work of short-term mission groups who come to the region to do specific ministries. Through the years, mission teams from First Presbyterian Church have gone to work with Kristin in the Dominican Republic.
